Leyton Orient have made a much-needed addition to their defence with the signing of Dutch right-back Jens Janse.

The 30-year-old is a former Netherlands Under-21, who has spent the majority of his career in the Eredivisie, the Dutch top flight, and was most recently in the Italian second tier with Ternana before leaving at the end of last season.

Janse had a trial at Scottish Premier League side Dundee last week, but was not offered a contract by boss Paul Hartley.

A right-back by trade, he can also play in midfield, but has not played a professional game since May 20.

He featured 21 times for Ternana last season, including 17 starts, and scored once.

Orient's defensive numbers have taken a hit in recent weeks, after the release of Sean Clohessy on a free transfer and Nicky Hunt's injury in Saturday's defeat to Yeovil.
