West Ham United fell to a 3-0 defeat against Rubin Kazan in the second match of their Austrian tour last night.

The Hammers played just 48 hours after their 2-2 draw with FC Slovacko and were unable to find a way past their opponents.

Enner Valencia and Reece Burke went close early on but failed to convert their chances and Kazan were more ruthless in front of goal.

The Russian Premier League side had a 2-0 lead going into the break through Marko Devic and Maxime Lestienne.

Gukdeniz Karadeniz added a third after the break meaning the north London club will have to head into Saturday’s game against Karlsruher SC hoping to register their first win.

Valencia had a chance to open the scoring in the sixth minute as he was in the clear in the box but he couldn’t get enough power in his shot to beat goalkeeper Sergey Rzhikov.

Three minutes later, new summer signing, Sofiane Feghouli cut out the Russian’s defence with a quick free kick but Reece Burke couldn’t keep his effort down.

Kazan got on the scoresheet as the onrushing Ilzat Akhmetov cut back to Devic who knocked the ball home from close range.

The Russian side doubled their lead right on half time as Lestienne pounced on Declan Rice’s backpass to sweep home past an exposed Adrian.

As the Hammers tried to find a route back into the match it was once again Kazan who got the third goal of the game.

Samuel Garcia hot the post and sub Karadeniz burst clear to roll into the bottom left hand corner.

In the dying minutes, Aaron Cresswell hit a free kick into the wall and Pedro Obiang fired over as they failed to get a consolation goal.

West Ham face Karlsruher on Saturday, July 23 with kick off at 3pm.
