Lutalo Muhammad has been selected to represent Team GB at Rio 2016.

The Walthamstow taekwondo athlete, who won a bronze medal in the 80kg division at London 2012, will be looking to add another to his haul in Brazil and is one of four athletes selected.

The 25-year-old told the Team GB website it was nice to be have been officially chosen to compete at the Olympic Games once again.

He said: “This is something that I have been working towards for the last four years so it’s always a great feeling to be selected for Team GB.

“My road to Rio has been quite challenging as I have had a few injuries along the way, however, with the help of our support team I’m now at a stage where I can focus on doing what I do best.

“I’m determined to be the best prepared I can be, so that I can give the best performance I can in August.”

Muhammad said the lead up to London 2012 was out of this world and hopes the fans who travel to Rio can emulate the same atmosphere.

He added: “At the moment, we’re working on some exciting things every single day in training, new challenges performance wise, so I’m looking forward to putting them into practice in the ring.

“The end goal always remains the same – to win gold.

“I’ve dreamed of winning an Olympic medal ever since I watched Sydney 2000.

“Rio 2016 particularly means a lot to me and my dad worked out that this would be when I would be at my prime to take my gold.

“In hindsight London 2012 was a bonus for me.”

Team GB have won three medals in the sport since Sydney 2000 as Sarah Stevenson won bronze at Beijing 2008 with Jade Jones achieving gold in London.
