Leyton Orient claimed their first League 1 win under interim boss Kevin Nugent after a 2-0 victory at Doncaster this evening.

The visitors got off to an ideal start after just two minutes of the game when Jay Simpson picked up the ball and fired into the corner of the net.

The O’s had a few scares before they doubled their lead in the second half through a stunning strike from Darius Henderson to extend their unbeaten away record.

Orient midfielder Romain Vincelot was ruled out of their trip to Doncaster this evening with a knee injury.

Nathan Clarke and Mathieu Baudry both missed the game through suspension with Elliot Omozusi coming into the defence alongside Bradley Pritchard.

Shaun Batt also dropped to the bench with Chris Dagnall, Marvin Bartley and Jobi McAnuff returning to the starting lineup.

Orient could not have asked for a better start as Simpson showed real composure to fire the ball into the net in the opening minutes of the game.

The visitors went close shortly afterwards but Dagnall’s low strike flew just past the post.

Doncaster should have equalised from their first serious attack but Nathan Tyson’s shot was saved by Gary Woods and James Coppinger’s follow up effort was cleared off the line by Omozusi.

Dagnall found himself in a dangerous position in plenty of space but the striker wasted the opportunity as his ineffective cross-shot went harmlessly out for a goal kick.

The O’s had a scare towards the break when Woods misjudged a long ball and Tyson’s shot appeared to be blocked by Scott Cuthbert’s hand. Doncaster were furious as the referee waved play on.

Rovers threatened again through Tyson but he was denied by former Doncaster keeper Woods.

The O’s had a decent opportunity after Dagnall received the ball from Omozusi but the striker took too long and keeper Jed Steer thwarted the attack.

Dean Furman picked up the ball outside the Orient penalty area but his shot was straight at Woods.

The hosts were starting to pick up the pace and substitute Kyle Bennett fired in an effort but it went wide of the target.

Orient extended their lead after 62 minutes when the ball fell to Henderson and the striker hit a superb long-range effort past Steer.

The home fans were increasingly frustrated at their side and Orient were seemingly coasting to the points.

Doncaster went close through Coppinger's teasing cross but no-one got on the end of it and the chance was wasted.

The visitors were forced into a change when Jack Price hobbled off with an injury and was replaced by Harry Lee ten minutes from the end.

Nugent made another substitution as he introduced Batt late on with Dagnall taken off.

Simpson had the chance to put the seal on the win but blasted his free-kick well over the bar.

It did not matter though as the O's eased their way to a welcome three points at the Keepmoat Stadium.
