READ MORE: Grandfather's attacker urged to hand himself in after 'disgusting' assault

An “evil” attacker left an 87-year-old man with injuries to his face and arm after assaulting him while he sat in his car.

The victim was waiting at the traffic lights at Nazeing crossroads at about 1.30pm on Saturday (September 24).

A man in a van behind walked up to his car, opened the door, grabbed his arm and punched him.

He is also reported to have grabbed the victim’s car keys and thrown them away at the crossroads, between Middle Street, Nazeing Road, North Street and St Leonards Road.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his late 60s to 70s, slim and with grey hair.

He wore a pale green polo neck top.

Writing online, the victim’s daughter called the attacker “evil” and urged people to come forward with any information.

She also said: “Thank God some lovely people stopped and helped him and brought him home safely… can’t thank them enough for looking after him.”

The man’s injuries to his face and arms were described as “not serious” by police.

Anyone with information should contact PC Sophie Bacon at Loughton Police Station on 101.
