A Walthamstow firm has launched a scheme, collecting used books to hand out to youngsters across the capital.

Tidy Books, which designs bookcases for children, has started a monthly “book drop” to collect pre-owned books in good condition.

The books will then be donated to Give A Book, a charity which distributes reading material to breakfast clubs and school book clubs across London.

Tidy Books chief executive, Geraldine Grandidier, said: “This is such a simple idea that makes a huge impact.

“If Walthamstow people can give a pre-owned kid's book, that's in good condition, then we can help Give A Book multiply the magic of a good book, and spread the joy of reading.”

Books can be donated to the project between 10am and 5pm on the first Friday of every month at Tidy Books’s offices at 10 Hatherley Mews, Walthamstow.
