A CRICKET captain is urging people to come to a fundraiser vital to his club’s future.

South Woodford Cricket Club is hosting its third bank holiday extravaganza this weekend (August 26 to August 28).

Shed Fest will see 25 cask ales and ciders, live music and DJs take over the club’s ground in Highfield Road, Woodford Bridge this weekend.

South Woodford CC’s Joe Craddock has just finished his first year as club captain and is calling on people in the area to support the event.

He said: “I have played for the club since I was eight-years-old and the club itself is almost 130-years-old.

“Without weekends like this, we wouldn’t be able to survive.

“We’ve got a team of about 25 people who have worked really hard on organising everything, so we’re hoping for a great weekend.”

There will be live music on Friday and Sunday, along with a DJ set from 6pm on Saturday.

A fun T20 match between youngsters and club members will also take place on Sunday.

Joe added: “We’ve raised £19,000 in the past, but we’re hoping to smash that this year.

“We can’t let a club with so much history die out, so come down support your local club and spend the bank holiday with us.”

Entry is £5 for all three days or £3 a day. The fun starts at 6pm tonight.
