A MOTHER-OF-TWO living with MS is “delighted” to have completed a 10k walk for charity, after fears she would not be able to finish it.

Katherine Lewton, of Broad Oak, Woodford Green, completed a 10k walk for the Royal British Legion with her husband Phil and daughters Imogen and Emmeline on Sunday (July 17).

But the 39-year-old, who was diagnosed with MS in 2012, was worried she would not be able to manage the sponsored walk.

She said: “I appreciate 10 kilometres isn’t very far for most people, but I was really quite nervous about it.

“Ever since my diagnosis I haven’t been able to anything big like a marathon – some days I can’t move my arms or my legs and I can’t stand up for long periods of time.

“So committing to walk over six miles was pretty scary.”

The Lewton family has already raised £1,459 from doing the Poppy Walk but is hoping to keep donations coming in.

Katherine added: “It’s such a brilliant cause. The Royal British Legion provides lifelong support for service men and women and their families.

“This was my way of doing some kind of physical challenge for charity and it was great to have the kids doing it too.

“My husband is very fit and healthy so he was designated map reader and bag holder for the day!”
