A GROUP of guerilla gardeners are looking for volunteers to help them transform a public garden in under 12 hours.
Wanstead Community Gardeners Marian Temple is calling on her fellow residents to help dig up and replant the neglected flower beds around the Grove Park car park all in one day this weekend.
The retired teacher from Wanstead said: “It’s a big challenge, but with a bit of help we think we can do it.
“Instead of people not noticing the flower beds when they get out of their cars to go to the shops, we want them to look beautiful for them.”
Ms Temple and her gardening team have been transforming public gardens like Corner House Garden in High Street since 2003.
She said: “You don’t have to be good at gardening and families with children are more than welcome – it’s a great way to meet new people and you’ll be brightening up sad patches of public land at the same time.”
Willing green fingered volunteers should meet in Grove Park at 10.30am on Saturday (May 28) and bring any tools and unwanted plants they have.
