Much-needed improvement to public transport was top of the agenda this weekend as the deputy leader of the Green party visited Buckhurst Hill.

Dr Shahrar Ali, who was the first black and minority ethnic deputy leader of a UK party, visited the town on Saturday (February 6) to meet activists and discuss issues with members of the public.

He said it was a “privilege” to join local Green party members, including councillor Steven Neville.

Dr Ali said: “The reception was warm as we engaged residents on the issues that mattered to them.

“A recurring theme was the desire for more accessible public transport and for improved walking and cycling infrastructure - a programme for change which we recognise and share.”
