A radical cleric accused of "inviting support for ISIS" is due in court this morning.

Anjem Choudary is one of two men who were charged earlier this month with terror offences following an investigation by Scotland Yard.

The 48-year-old lawyer, of Hampton Road, Ilford was charged alongside Mohammed Rahman, 32, of Sidney Street, Whitechapel, with "inviting support for a proscribed organisation" between June 29 2014 and March 6 2015 through online lectures.

It follows his arrest last year when the Met's Counter Terrorism Command unit raided 19 addresses, including his former home in Bromley Road, Walthamstow.

Choudary and Rahman appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on August 6 and were both remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey today (August 28).
