A pensioner has been killed during a golf society trip to Norfolk.
The 78-year-old man was struck by a Mercedes van yesterday morning as he crossed the road during a game at Thetford Golf Club in Brandon Road.
Emergency services attempted to attempt to revive him but he died at the scene.
The man is believed to be part of a 70-strong group from Chigwell Golf Club who were visiting for a day trip in Norfolk.
Chigwell Golf Club in High Road has today confirmed the man from Essex was a long-term member.
The driver of the van stopped at the scene and was not injured during the collision.
Police were called to the fatal collision at 11.40 am but no arrests have been made.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision should contact Norfolk Constabulary’s Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
