An elderly woman was tied up and robbed by two burglars in Walthamstow on Wednesday night.

Police were called to an address in Higham Hill Road following reports of a burglary at just after 8pm.

Two men, aged in their twenties, had forced their way into the pensioner's home and threatened her.

She was assaulted during the incident and had both her wrists and ankles bound together before the burglars made off with personal belongings and cash.

The victim, in her 80s, was taken to an east London hospital with 'non life threatening' injuries.

Police have not released any further details at this stage, only that she remains in hospital.

No arrests have been made and enquires continue.
